Earth Day Origins

Earth Day is celebrated annually by millions of people worldwide, but how did Earth Day begin? When was the first Earth Day? This is a trickier question than you might think. There are actually two official Earth Day celebrations every year, and both got their start in the spring of 1970. The First Widespread Earth Day Celebration The Earth Day most often celebrated in the United States—and in many other countries around the world—first took place on April 22, 1970. It was a nationwide teach-in about the environment, dreamed up by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson.  A Democrat from Wisconsin, Senator Nelson had been instrumental earlier in introducing conservation in John F. Kennedys presidency.  Gaylord Nelsons Earth Day was modeled on the anti-war teach-in demonstrations that Vietnam war protesters had used successfully to educate people about their issues. On the first Earth Day, more than 20 million people turned out at thousands of colleges, universities and communities all across America for an environmental teach-in day, which sparked a global environmental reawakening. More than half a billion people in 175 countries now celebrate Earth Day on April 22. The April 22 date was chosen for its fit within the American college calendar, before end-of-semester exams but when the weather is likely to be relatively pleasant nationwide. Conspiracy theorists relish the fact that April 22 is also the birthday of Vladimir Lenin, seeing in that choice more than the mere coincidence that it is. A Second Claim to First Earth Day Yet, it may surprise you to learn that April 22, 1970 was not the first Earth Day. A month earlier, San Francisco Mayor Joseph Alioto had issued the first-ever Earth Day proclamation on March 21, 1970. Mayor Aliotos action was inspired by John McConnell, a San Francisco publisher and peace activist, who a year earlier had attended the 1969 UNESCO Conference on the Environment where he proposed an international holiday focused on environmental stewardship and preservation. McConnell suggested that Earth Day coincide with the March equinox—the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere, March 20 or 21 depending on the year. It is a date filled with all the symbolism associated with spring, including hope and renewal. That is, until one remembers that south of the equator that date signifies the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. About a year later, on February 26, 1971, then-UN Secretary General U Thant supported McConnells proposal for an annual global Earth Day celebration at the March equinox, and issued a proclamation to make it official. Today, the United Nations rallies with Senator Nelsons plan and every year promotes an April 22nd celebration of what they call Mother Earth Day. Edited by Frederic Beaudry.

Mitchell points out that worship is more than just showing up at church on Sunday morning for an hour of corporate worship. He points out that worship according to John 4:19 -24 goes much deeper than just that time of corporate worship that we often think of as worship. He points out that worship involves the whole person, mind, body and soul. Anderson states that corporate worship is â€Å"an action of discipling and discipleship† and a â€Å"school for the Lord’s service. Discipleship is just one part of the equation needed to assist Christians in spiritual formation to maturity. Christian education also has a role to play. The goal of both discipleship and Christian education is to produce spiritually mature disciples of Christ. Education, as the term is used by Csinos and many others, is used to refer to learning that takes place within churches or schools. Formal Christian education and discipleship can be seen as points along a continuum that is designed to incre ase the spiritual maturity of believers. Mitchell’s definition of Christian education, when broken down gives a number of clues as to the role it plays in regards to assisting Christians to become more mature in their walk with Christ. When Mitchell speaks of Christian education as â€Å"engaging learners in acquiring the mind and skill sets,† he clearly shows that there has to be a transfer of knowledge in some fashion. Faithful expository preaching allows the Christian to understand how the Bible is not just a collection of 66 individualized books, but instead an interlocking mosaic that explains God’s love for man and the relationship between them. Topical preaching is good for learning about particular aspects of faith and what the Bible has to say about the issues that Christians confront in today’s society, but expository preaching is faithful to not only the text, but the context of the passage in light of the entire Bible. But, faithful preaching of God’s Word is not the only way that Christian education is being accomplished. There are still many churches that conduct Sunday schools. These Sunday schools have varied curricula and, as a result, their success as a tool in spiritual formation can vary. For those who use Sunday school curricula provided by a denominational source, they can provide a great deal of information to the Christian as to what the denomination believes and why they believe it. Other formats include topical studies or studies that examine books of the Bible in a manner similar to expository preaching. While Sunday school materials vary, the importance to the individual Christian will also vary. If a class was using a topical study, there may be particular lessons or units that may not apply to all that are in the class. While Sunday schools and corporate worship provide Christian education to believers, they are less intimate than small groups. Small groups are, in many ways, a hybrid of formal Christian education and discipleship, depending on the way in which they are run and the content in which they cover. Some small groups tend to be smaller formal education by doing Bible studies. Other small groups tend to lean more towards discipleship in that they are based on encouragement, accountability and support for the members. These small groups are often termed accountability groups for just that reason. These small groups not only help the Christian learn about the fundamentals of the faith, but also allow others to hold them accountable to follow Christ in the details of life. Both formal Christian education and small groups help the Christian with â€Å"understanding of the Creator, the created order, and themselves as created in the image of God, while also discovering their contribution and place in God’s Kingdom, as well as their community. † Spiritual formation is always occurring in the Christians life through Christian education as it is the changes in our spiritual maturity as we continue to follow Jesus. This spiritual formation grows at an individual rate depending on the amount of overall Christian education received, either through formal or informal means. The informal Christian education is often thought of as being discipleship in the truest sense of the word. When many think of discipleship, they think of the situation where a mature Christian pours themselves into the life of a less mature Christian in a mentoring role in an informal fashion. The term discipleship has a broad range of meanings in the church today according to Collinson including encouraging a Christian lifestyle, referring to the relationship between a believer and Christ, and helping new believers grow in the spiritual disciplines. A simpler definition may be that â€Å"discipleship means following after Jesus and doing what He says to do. † But discipleship is also seen as a calling, not a program or profession, and a daily living with Jesus. But, the Bible refers to a disciple in three different ways. In the first use of the word, it is nothing more than a person being educated by a teacher, such as in Matthew 10:24 and 13:52. This way of defining a disciple is a life transformation of becoming more like a person’s master, such as seen in Matthew 16:24 or Mark 8:34. A second way is when someone starts the process of becoming a disciple or being a disciple, such as in Matthew 27:57 or Luke 14:26-27. Lastly, there are those who are referred to as disciples that only occasionally followed Jesus, such as those in Matthew 8:21. Samra summarizes discipleship succinctly by saying that it is the â€Å"process of becoming like Christ. You read "Writing Assignment 1" in category "Papers" † A one on one discipling relationship allows for the greatest accountability and requires the greatest amount of trust on the part of both individuals. This type of discipleship often is the strongest and most effective to achieve true spiritual growth. While it is quite easy to evade issues that may be struggles in your life while listening to expository preaching or in a Sunday school setting, it is almost impossible when in a one-on-one relationship with another Christian. As a result of the trust that has been developed in the course of the relationship and the permission given by both parties to ask the tough questions of each other, there is no escaping the immense amount of learning that can produce a great deal of spiritual maturity in a new Christian. While the goal of Christian education and discipleship is spiritual formation of the new believer into a true disciple who makes other true disciples, this concept has been watered down in the American church today by emphasis on programs instead of progressive spiritual growth in every member’s life. There are many churches that do not encourage spiritual growth with anything beyond worship services on Sunday morning and evening, Sunday school and possibly a prayer service on Wednesday night. Many churches emphasize education over discipleship as it is easier to do and less labor intensive on the part of church members. Many churches now seem to emphasize numbers of people in the pews at the cost of sacrificing the spiritual growth of its members because there is less vulnerability in a large gathering along with a higher participation rate than in a small group or one-on-one discipleship setting. Churches today are flooded with programs while showing little regards to the process of disciple making. While the church wants spiritual growth to occur, the most effective way to achieve this is through discipleship. While spiritual growth can take place as a result of conferences, special events or classes, when looking at the biblical precedence for spiritual formation, it was done through discipleship, as shown by the examples of Paul and Jesus. It is important for every church or ministry to evaluate what it is doing from time to time to see if the programs they are participating in are making true disciples, large numbers of spiritual infants or just people who attend church for what they can get out of it instead of what they bring as an offering of their time and talents. Mature Christians hold the key to producing other Christians who will then follow the Great Commission to make disciples, not just followers or church attenders. American churches today are full of attenders and that is why we see the current trend of declining membership throughout the country today. The church should focus on making disciples which over time will turn into true worshipers who worship God in every part of their lives every minute of their lives, not just during the course of a program, event or training offered by the church. Jesus made disciples who changed the world without programs. These disciples demonstrated true worship in their lives and passed it to succeeding generations. Unfortunately, the message has become twisted over time from the simple message of a disciple being one who worships God in spirit and in truth. We must recapture the essence of true discipleship before it is lost forever in the next program or fad proposed by a popular Christian leader, instead of following Jesus’ formula for lasting discipleship. Through formulation of accurate market strategies and target marketing, we feel that the Brand will be sold profitably in Japan Target Market Target marketing involves dividing the market into segments and then concentrating the selling practices on one of the segments (Armstrong, Kotler, Brennan, 2015). It ensures that businesses sell their products in the most profitable segment. When selling the Brand, the business intends to target the middle and high-income adults, aged twenty years and above and living in Japan. The Whisky will be sold in 750ml bottles using different distributors, bar owners, whisky dealers and depot owners. Rules Guiding sale of Alcohol in Japan Japan has some strict laws that regulate the sale of alcohol and alcoholic beverages. First, alcohol vendors are required to obtain General Liquor Retail License to enable them to sell liquor in Japan legally (Carragher, Byrnes, Doran, Shakeshaft, 2014). Therefore, we intend to purchase this license to be allowed into Japan. We will also require an export license to allow as to export this product to Japan. Also, in Japan, the minimum alcohol drinking age is 20 years, and so the whiskey brand should not be sold to any person under 20 years Drivers in Japan are not allowed to drive after drinking. The alcohol content for in drivers should be 0.03% when they are on wheels (Fukuyo Myojo, 2015). We will, therefore, enlighten our customers on these requirements to encourage responsible drinking. The competitors in the Whisky industry With the development of many whisky companies and distillers, the Japanese Whisky has gained tremendous attention. Therefore, when entering the Japanese market, we are aware that we will experience stiff competition from the already-established distillers and distributors in Japan. These may include, Suntory Holdings Ltd., Nikka Whisky Distilling Company Ltd., and Chichibu Distillery among other companies (Independent, 2016). The business can have a hard time dealing with this competition because these competitors products are even more familiar to the consumers. This may call for the business to carry out massive advertising of the product to create awareness to the consumers. SWOT analysis For a business to compete favorably in the market, it must evaluate its weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats (Verboncu Condurache, 2016). Specifically, Pike Creek Brand has two fundamental strengths. First, it is a strong brand, having been sold successfully in Canada. The Whisky Brand is from a well-grounded company which has been operating for a long time. Another strength is that it is a high quality whisky. From the recommendations received from the Canadian customers, this Whisky is unique and of high quality hence is expected to receive a ready market in Japan. Conversely, one weakness of this brand is that it is not well-known in Japan. Therefore, the firm will spend more time and funds on advertising. Also, it targets high-income earners, meaning that it will not be able to derive market from the low-income earners. Japan acts as a possible external market. Therefore, the firm has an opportunity to conduct market research and win customer trust for the Whisky brand. Another opportunity is the ability of the firm to extend to other international markets outside Japan. There are also some threats involved in selling the product. Water is released at each step in the process while the rocks become more compact and grow more brittle. This is the reverse of the serpentine formation that happened when the plate was young. It is thought to be complete around 160 km depth.W ater can trigger localized melting in the slab. Melted rocks, like nearly all liquids, take up more space than solids, thus melting can break fractures even at great depths. Over a wide depth range averaging 410 km, olivine begins to change to a different crystal form identical to that of the mineral spinel. This is what mineralogists call a phase change rather than a chemical change; only the volume of the mineral is affected. Olivine-spinel changes again to a perovskite form at around 650 km. (These two depths mark the mantles transition zone.)Other notable phase changes include enstatite-to-ilmenite and garnet-to-perovskite at depths below 500 km. Thus there are plenty of candidates for the energy behind deep earthquakes at all depths between 70 and 700 km, perhaps too many. The roles of temperature and water are important at all depths as well, though not precisely known. As scientists say, the problem is still poorly constrained. One is that the ruptures proceed very slowly, less than half the speed of shallow ruptures, and they seem to consist of patches or closely spaced subevents. Another is that they have few aftershocks, only one-tenth as many as shallow quakes do. They relieve more stress; that is, the stress drop is generally much larger for deep than shallow events. Until recently the consensus candidate for the energy of very deep quakes was the phase change from olivine to olivine-spinel, or transformational faulting. The idea was that little lenses of olivine-spinel would form, gradually expand and eventually connect in a sheet. Olivine-spinel is softer than olivine, therefore the stress would find an avenue of sudden release along those sheets. Michael Livingston had plenty to lose. Try four years of undergraduate school at Morehouse University, two years of Notre Dame graduate school, and Harvard Law. Yes he had plenty to lose. Walking into the door of his closed-space apartment, he sits down with the letter in plain view. Thump, Thump, Thump! His heart races like greyhounds at a race track. The time is here. The time is now. Michael opens the letter to find his results of the BAR exam he had taken†¦ â€Å"Dear Mr. Livingston, It gives us great pleasure to inform you that you are in the ninetieth percentile upon completion of the Virginia State BAR Examination. Congratulations on your success.† Experiencing a seventh heaven elation, Michael throws the life-saving letter up in the air, and yells to the top of his lungs. He sits down on the couch with a sudden thrust as if he were lightheaded. He picks up the letter again and reads it a few more times before disregarding it for the last time. As he catches his breath, the tight brown belt from his khaki trousers digs into his stomach making for an even more uncomfortable pose. Pulling his white Geoffrey Beane button-up shirt out of his trousers, Michael then gets up and walks into his room as if he were in a drunken stoop. The excitement he was experiencing tired him more than the 9 to 5 internship at the courthouse. While his heavy head sunk into the pillow, Mike hears a mysterious knock at his apartment door. â€Å"Who in the hell†¦?† he says emphatically. Bad Effects Of Transhumanism Essay

Humans (and transhumans) are marked by a persistent desire to understand and control their environment and experience. Before the development of the scientific method, deductive and inductive logic, game theory, sophisticated epistemic principles and so on, humans resorted to superficial causal explanations based on observation for common phenomena, and theistic explanation for unusual events. Deities were invoked to explain unusual or destructive phenomena, and to try to provide a comforting model of the uncertainties and uncontrollable events in life. Storms, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, epidemics and madness could not be tolerated without some belief about their cause. In the absence of scientific explanation a religious or theistic explanation was almost inevitable. Along with pre-scientific attempts at understanding came a crude attempt at a technology. A tension is evident here: On the one hand religions have frequently declared events to be determined by a divine plan and s o have held attempts at changing things to be futile (this is common in Eastern religions, as well as other religions involving predestination). On the other hand, religions have offered certain limited and carefully circumscribed means of changing and controlling events, such as through prayer, ritual, and magic. The overall result has been entropic and anti-progressive since religious technology is ineffective (with the occasional exception of psychosomatic effects). The role of religion in providing explanations, however poor, of human life and its environment has given way over time to the superior resources of empirical science. Science has been able to explain an enormous variety of phenomena, both commonplace and unusual. Protestations by theists that science has not and cannot explain the origin of life, the origin of the universe, or the nature of consciousness are increasingly ridiculous as we continue to learn and discover. An objection to this view of the origin and strength of religion is that it is unclear why religion is persisting and even growing as scientific triumphs abound. This objection makes two mistakes however. First, as I am showing, there are other sustaining causes of religion that do not entirely or closely depend on the development of science. Second, the apparent strength and resurgence of religion is, I believe, an illusion  generated from a limited perspective. Certainly religion is not declining rapidly, and is continually taking new forms (such as New Age mysticism), but seen over a span of decades and centuries the trend is clear enough. Late twentieth century religion is very much less powerful than religion in the Middle Ages. In the past religion dominated all aspects of life and the idea of a separation of Church and state would have been considered incomprehensible and wicked. DEALING WITH DEATH AND UNCERTAINTY: One of the great tasks before us, as transhumanists, is the reengineering of our consciousness to do away with the powerful desire for certainty of a dogmatic kind. Most humans feel that they cannot bear to be wrong. They fear an unknown future. They readily give up intellectual and emotion independence in favor of faith in another person, whether human or supernatural myth. Humans are also driven to the comforts of religious dogma by the terrible fact of death. Some transhumanists expect religion to automatically decline as technological progress accelerates. Unfortunately, the faster technology and society changes, the greater the uncertainty in people’s lives, so the greater the appeal of religion in all its forms. (Hence the takeover by National Socialism and communism at times of great upheaval.) Scientific and technological progress alone will not abolish religious thinking. Transhumanist philosophies, especially immortalist philosophies such as Extropianism, will be vital to intellectual and emotional progress.

The Technology Effect When walking around campus, plaza, or anywhere you see people communicating, not face to face but these people are communicating through their phones. With technology advancing at a fast rate, who is to say that technology is going to help so much that we rely on it for everything that it actually hurts society rather than help it. With facts showing that people in this era rely on technology to socialize with other people because they are socially awkward, also kids growing up with technology in their primary years show to be less active, but rather than using technology for all the wrong reasons, technology can help nurture creative talent. Is technology limiting our creativity? We see people on the daily walking on their phones with their buddies texting each other through their phones rather than look at each other and spit words out their mouth. This is what technology is doing to a lot of people. At this rate people will probably not see sunlight because they will have futuristic robots running errands for them. We have difficulties having normal face to face conversations because our reliance on technology unlike back then when people would go outside and look for those new adventures and enjoy themselves. Technology like ipads, smartphones, video games, and even television is what has replaced our stone age fun. According to the Wall Street Journal, â€Å" A recent Pew Research survey of adults in the U.S found that 71% use Facebook at least occasionally, and 45% of Facebook users check the site several times a day.† Just because they are on this social app it doesn’t make these people social because they are talking to one another throug h a screen with no tone, and no body language and that’s communicating face to face, but however this statistic proves that people are spending far more time on their phones on social media than face to face conversations. Students at Connecticut College, about a total of 112 male and female undergraduate students were surveyed about their social skills, technology use, and social anxiety according to Cecilia Brown from The Department of Psychology. They predicted that the participants who took the survey that used technological communication a lot more than face to face communication or prefered it to face to face communication, would have high social anxiety and low social skills and came out to be right. According to Cecilia brown not only people in schools, outside activity, etc employers are complaining about the workers lack of interpersonal communication skills they have, and communication skills have on a rapidly rate to the top of the list of qualities required of employees. At work where we should all be working as a team communicating to one another rather than waiting for one another to say something or just being flat out weird. Looking at ourselves and how we grew up in the past, we grew up with our imagination and outdoor activity. Nowadays you see families stop their babies from crying with technology, and these kids aren’t watching Elmo or any type of educational videos. They are watching kids play with toys or watching kids play videogames and this blows my mind to this day. According to The Telegraph children are entering a â€Å"tragic decline† from the age of seven, with activity levels dropping from K-6th grade. Kids in this era have come to a â€Å"digital dependence†, fitness experts claim it will shorten lives with sedentary lifestyles, which means they will live lives with little to no activity at all. People who live these sedentary lifestyles are often lying down or sitting while engaged with an activity such as television, video games, or their mobile device. Head of ukactive Kids, Jack Shakespeare, said â€Å"Physical inactivity is society’s silent killer and big gest tragedy is that it’s creeping up on our children before they’ve even left the playground.† He believes to fix this is a â€Å"cultural shift† to protect inactive generation from a lifetime of health problems and creativity. Instead of using technology for the wrong reasons because you are bored and want to pass time, technology can be used to be educationally inclined if used correctly. It can be used to be exposed to new things, ask questions, tune in to the right distractions, brainstorming using digital tools, even things like blogging can have an effective way for the development of creative thinking and writing. According to Bentley University because of technology it gives entrepreneurs the power to fund their dreams via group funding platforms, also gives students the opportunity to learn new skills with professors and classmates remotely. As long as you are maintaining a balanced lifestyle between technology and creativeness outside of technology use, it will only help each one of us to become the best person we can be. In conclusion, technology is one of the great things we have today in this era and if not used correctly can have us humans live that socially awkward life, even have our kids less active so therefore giving them the possibility to having sedentary lifestyles, but if used correctly can help boost our knowledge on anything we set our minds too. James was the first international student in my class and it is he who had influenced my decision to become international student, too. Before our meeting I thought I’d not be able to leave my native country and to become labeled as ‘international student’. It sounded for me as death penalty – I was afraid of discrimination. However, James showed how wrong I was. Together we developed our new personalities open to perception of new cultures and nationalities; we developed our own sense of humor and attitude towards girls. James came to my country having no friends and not knowing the language, but he was a strong person ready to fight all difficulties. I really admired his personal strength and his character. He said that leaving his native country was the most difficult decision he had ever made, but he realized that he would have more opportunities here. I saw how difficult for him it was to find new friends and to communicate with other people, but he never gave up. Before meeting James I felt sometimes like an outcast, but James made me feel more confident and find myself. Moreover, I re-affirmed my inspirations and drives. James and I had the same thoughts and the same problems and, therefore, sometimes I felt we are brothers. However, everything ends in our life and James left my school as his family moved to another city. Despite our efforts to maintain our relations, our friendship gradually drifted apart. Now I understand that our friendship was based on growing at the same surrounding and under the same conditions sharing similar hopes and fears. Our friendship in the middle school was magical, but, it is a pity that lighting doesn’t strike twice. Nevertheless, I became firm of purpose to become international student as James showed that I had nothing to fear. Yes, difficulties did challenge me, but I found strength to cope with them. James did work the lesson in my heart – you should be always confident in who you are and others will perceive you the same way. Actually, if I had never met James, I definitely would have missed experience of being international student. James exerted positive influence on my future life which became full of projects, ideas and companionships with new friends and classmates. Now I made up decision to transfer to the University of South Carolina as it is one of the best private research universities in the world. There was some scholars seeking to move beyond national cultures suggest focusing on more fine-grained variations within a nation. In Malaysia, the intercultural differences provide an important reflection on the existence and range of values and beliefs within a nation. Certainly, it was cautioned that may be linguistic, regional, tribal, ethic or caste cleavages within nations that may sometimes make national data non-representative for the nation. It is believed that there still exist some values among the three major racial groups which was Malay, Chinese and Indian. These three major racial groups can be markedly from different dominant culture, especially in business practices. This is because the ethnic divisions tend to be reinforced by religious, cu ltural, linguistic and economic divisions in Malaysia. The reason is the ways of thinking of people are behavior, personal, cultural values entrepreneurs may also affect the business environment in the moral and social responsibility practices prevalent cognitive. After that, there are three important reasons as to why these practices in smaller firms should be examined more closely. Firstly, there is a large disparity in the number of studies of ethical and social responsibility issues between large firms and small firms. There was work on ethics and social responsibility has been largely concentrated on large firms particularly in the context of Malaysia until now. Secondly, small businesses have a strong interrelated community in which it operates. Typically, they deal with who live in the local are mark that ethical and socially responsible business behavior is an important factor for creating a customers harmony business-customer relationship in the local community. Thirdly, there is increasing number of people awareness on ethics and social responsibility, thus leading to social disapproval is considered bad ethics or corporate irresponsibility. For the â€Å"good ethic is good for business† notion, this means that if we want our business stay longer and stronger, the ethical behavior is the reason. If we ignore the ethic, it would have an adverse impact on our own business. According (Noor Hazlina Admad, Azlan Amran and Hasliza Abdul Halim 2012) study by Corruption Perception Index (2009) reported that it was reported that Malaysia was ranked 56th of the 180 countries studied that the way behind other Asian countries. This means that Malaysia is just a medium country in Asian. Although the CPI report is not limited to small business, but this is a general ethical standards reflected between the people in this country. Regard to the social responsibility, there was reported that the Council of Small Business Organization of Australia had received a sample of 9000 revealed show that a strong socially responsible behaviors especially in terms of providing support for the local community. â€Å"There was a genuine enthusiasm for the notion of corporate social responsibility which was viewed as duty†, this is the result found out of the Australian. This was happening among the SMEs in Australia. On the contrary, it was noted that in regard to the mora l sense of corporate social responsibility and smaller still relatively lacking in Malaysia. This is because the focus on such issues in Malaysia is often directed to large firms compared to smaller firms. Nevertheless, for the question of ethics and social responsibility, small businesses may be due to larger peers and different characteristics of these companies from nature to a certain extent. Small firms are, by nature, independent and self-managed. Presumably, the main aspects of morality will revolve around personal values, the owners themselves, and not bound by the ethical code of conduct as a large companys belief. ‘Multitasking’ is another key criterion of small businesses. Besides that, the variety of tasks facing small business owners can make them less time to consider ethics in the daily management. In addition, according to the notice what constitute personal and business ethics are probably closer in situations where the owner is also the manager in a business. Relatively speaking, recession has greater impact on small firms compared to larger ones, making business survival one of the top agenda among smaller firms. It means that ethic and social responsibility will make the small business survive in the challengers. Because of these limitations faced with small business owners, it is vital, so be careful to check the moral and social responsibility to consider to what extent is suitable for small businesses. In surmise, the purpose of this paper is to address these issues for examples, ethics and social responsibility in SMEs by advancing a conceptual framework that links the personal value of SME owner-managers, the ethical and socially responsi ble practices, and business performance. Followed by a conceptual framework beginning of this article, some propositions are formulated in the discussion of the relevant literature, and during use. Then, subsequent data collection methods will be used to sample and measure presents brief details. Finally, this paper summarizes the discussion of research and its impact. On the other hand, Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country that contains 27 million people. That have the three largest ethnic in our country, it is Malays, Chinese and Indian. Malaysia also has many smaller ethnic in the country. Because of this multi-ethnic composition of communities, many people believe that Malaysians have different cultural values, even though there is evidence that similar cultural value orientation. Malaysians generally share examples of collectivism and relationships. The only difference found among the three races was in terms of religiosity, with Malays holding religious beliefs to be far more important than their Chinese and Indian counterparts. However, people think different communities and ethical groups within a country, with their diverse business interests, different cultural perspectives and unique history of the skills and industry to understand the ethical and social responsibility practices in the business environment of the rich perceptual framework. It was a contention that personal or cultural values held by individuals may lead to different views on what is considered to be right or wrong, moral or immoral, and social responsibility, or otherwise. Interestingly, an investigation of cultural values in Malaysia using the right cultural values suggests that Malays, Chinese and Indians share similar cultural values. However, the increased pressure from economic development could result in changes in term of cultural values. Therefore, even if there are reported that the minimum distance between the cultures of Malays, Chinese and India, is likely to be a different business environment facing challenger cognitive moral and social responsibility on a certain bearing. Since the SMEs in Malaysia are labor-intensive, they will create employment opportunities. Secondly, SMEs enhance regional development and create more equitable income distribution due to their location and ongoing expansion throughout the broader community. Thirdly, SMEs play a vital complementary role in relation to larger firms. In many cases, large firms depend on SMEs as suppliers and distributors. For example, many SMEs in Malaysia supply component parts, tools, and equipment to larger manufacturing firms. Large firms also rely on SMEs for the distribution of their products to the consumer. Fourthly, SMEs serve as a training ground for developing the skills of workers and entrepreneurs. Finally, the presence of SMEs curbs the monopoly power of larger firms and provides the structure of the economy with greater flexibility. Thus, a country can strengthen SMEs and to ensure its success in reducing its vulnerability to financial crises. To promote the harmonious business and societal relationship, we should suggests to the word â€Å"ethics is not a luxury of advanced economies; it is an indispensable means to foster economic development†. Therefore, in developing economies to understand their daily business activities, such as the importance of the structure, especially in the context of Malaysia, small business is crucial. There may here also gives information about the entrepreneurs personal values may affect the moral and social responsibility practices cross-cultural variation. As a large company code of ethical conduct of business ethics research has been the center of attention. With a view that ethical practices should be the guiding principle for all businesses, large or small, researchers have begun to investigate the small business ethics gaining momentum. A study found that the interests of small businesses in the UK has experienced around the stakeholders, the protection of knowledge and informat ion, legal and moral obligations, as well as issues of personal and business decisions conflict is a moral issue. It is also uses a dilemma to determined that small business owners have faced, including the maximization of profits, life priority, enlightened self-interest and social priorities of the four problems. When the concept was first developed more than twenty years ago, companies are finding it difficult to operate their business practices, because it requires sacrifice to be carried out in the financial level. However, recently, the organizations leaders have begun to recognize the importance of social responsibility in business. Specifically, they found that small businesses have expressed their willingness to make arrangements to meet the requirements of social responsibility, especially their customers, their employees and the public. Through the lens of business, ethics and social responsibility practices are considered in the long run, help the economy entrepreneurs. In a rapidly changing and unpredictable environment, socially responsible behavior, to help businesses get the support from various external stakeholders groups. Such behavior, to provide them with some protection from unforeseen problems they face. It is also important to note that an organizations image and reputat ion may be in good moral behavior shaping public effects. Taken together, the benefits of ethical and socially responsible practices enable competitive advantage to be attained as a firm distinguishes itself from its competitors. Apart from a business perspective, entrepreneurs show such subtle gesture is considered to be the mechanism to promote the harmonious business and social relationships. In particular, it can enhance trust, cooperation, and taking into account that people can understand why other people behave the way they tolerates each other in three different ethnic groups. The three elements are intrinsically important because they are core characteristics that positively affect the emotional and interpersonal aspects of the work and life relationships. Because of this moral and social responsibility survey should get more attention and make the people think that important of it. The foregoing discussion is a strong link between the imaginary moral and social practice, results of operations, relations harmonious society, indicating the stakeholder theory, both from tool and normative perspective. The instrumental stakeholder theory methods treat the interests of maximizing the wealth of the company by means of stakeholder interests meet to achieve, whereas the fundamental assumption of normative approach to stakeholder theory suggests that â€Å"a company should behave in a socially responsible manner because it is morally correct to do so†. Based on this underpinning theory, conceptual framework is advanced for further investigation. Personal values of the SME entrepreneurs from the three main races in Malaysia are treated as the independent variable. Perceived role of ethics and social responsibility as well as ethical and socially responsible practices in business are mediating variables. The dependent variable is business performance in the context of SME. From this paper (Noor Hazlina Admad, Azlan Amran and Hasliza Abdul Halim 2012) ,we can make a stage to solve this problem. Firstly, in practice, we should provide between Malaysian entrepreneurs on values, ethics and social responsibility in a better understanding of cross-cultural differences. Secondly, we should promote a better understanding of the interaction of the three individual values in business practices and ethnic groups held in Malaysia. Then, we need to find the SME entrepreneurs consider important ethical and social responsibility practices. For the fourth point, we need to make sure that if this practice ethical and social responsibility does affect results of operations for example financial and non-financial. After that, fifth point is benefit of society, it will promote a harmonious business and taking into account the related parties of this study will inspire the similarities and differences between them, the strong ground of public relations in a multiracial soc iety. In conclusion, the value of this study lies in its efforts to provide moral and social responsibility practices and informed understanding of small businesses, especially in the environment of Malaysia. Determine the signal such noble approach because of its strong interaction with employees, customers and the local community about this approach, especially an important message is ubiquitous in small businesses. Ethical and social responsibility considerations are considered critical in view of harmony business enterprise, customer business relationships and community business could enhance the companys performance and to a greater extent, promoted the establishment of trust, respect for community solidarity and integrity. Importantly, this study will alert was similar and look at ethics and social responsibility in a manner different from each ethnic community and entrepreneurs, especially in Malaysia. The awareness of ethical business practices among smaller firms could also furnis h a healthier economy as they make up more than 80% of all establishments in most countries. Above all, business practitioners should realize that ethics, social responsibility and profit making can go hand in hand; they are not conflicting agendas. Therefore, the challenge of entrepreneurship education and policy-makers face is to recognize the unique aspects of these practices of SMEs, rather than through the lens of large companies the problem of moral and social responsibility corporate policy but as for creating competitive advantage for small businesses. Training programs that could portray the relationships among strategic planning, ethics, and social responsibility of the entrepreneurs is of great value. Finally, ethical is important to our country, it is because ethical and social responsibility can make our economy become better or badly. So all people in Malaysia need to unite and always help each other even not same ethnic to make our country become a stronger country an d increase our economy in future.
